Young people are always needing money but really cant get regular jobs. During a long summer many kids want to go places like movies, amusement parks, or other expensive activities but eventually their parents start saying no. So how can these kids make money?
Take care of a neighbors pet while they are at work or out of town. Elderly people may appreciate their dogs being walked because they cannot do it anymore. A good price for an hour dog walk is between 10-15 dollars. If you can find 5 dogs to walk in your neighborhood that is $75 for 1 hour of work (you can walk them at the same time) and many people can use this service daily! When pet-sitting you may be asked to stay overnight and can earn about $60! For just simply feeding, watering and playing with a persons pet.
House sitting is also an easy chore for younger people. You keep the house secure, water plants, clean up any messes, and run any errands the home owners may need. If there are a lot of errands you may earn 100 dollars in a day.
Seasonal jobs are also in high demand. During the summer you may cut grass, water plants, or even plant a garden. In the fall you can rack leaves. And when winter comes start shoveling snow. Many people hate to do these tasks and will happily pay a neighborhood kid to do them. Make fliers and hand them out to your neighbor with a price for each task and your phone number.
Ask your parents if you can have a garage sale. Collect things in your room and the rest of the house that you don’t use any more. Set them aside until you have cleaned out the house and then price them. Put up fliers and signs so people know where to go for the garage sale and then wait for customers to show up. Remember negotiation is the key to selling things at a garage sale.
Collect cans and bottles to take to the recycling plant. If you are bold enough ask your neighbors if you can collect their cans and bottles too. These 5-10 cent items add up fast.
