You may have never thought about the safety of your vehicle but there are some vehicles that will not perform well in a crash and could cause major bodily damage.
- Toyota Yaris- This car boast great gas milage and a great price but it is very dangerous. The 4 door version only got 3 stars from NHTSA for side crash testing and IIHS gave the car a “poor” rating. The car also doesn’t handle well in emergency and is tail-happy which can cause people to lose control. The 2008 and 2009 versions now have side-impact airbags and have received a “good” rating from IIHS.
- Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner- The 2007 models of these cars have the same chassis and both have a poor rating. Both cars received the lowest possible score from IIHS. The rating is due to the side impact test in which both cars lack stability control and have a high risk of roll over. The 2008 Escape is now equipped with front side and side curtain airbags as well as stability control which make the car much safer.
- Nissian Frontier- The Frontier appears to be a great truck but it received only 3 stars on the rollover test. The Big cab model only got 3 stars for a head on collision. It also got a poor rating for rear impact (the lowest rating possible). The truck also doesn’t have curtain or side airbags.
- Mazda B-Series and Ford Ranger- The
Ranger may seem save but it has not been upgraded much over the years. The truck does not have stability control, side airbags or curtain airbags. The truck also received a rollover rating of 3 stars from NHTSA. This rating means yo have a 20-30% chance of roll over if you get into an accident. This is the highest rolling risk in the auto industry. - Buick Rendezvous- The apparently versatile car- part luxury, part SUV and part Mini Van. Endorsed by Tiger Woods but actually has bad crash test results. The car only rated 3/5 n the front impact test. The Rendezvous was replaced in 2008 by the Enclave.
