The pelican has a large pouch attached to the long beak. The pound is used to feed the pelican and its young. The pouch is like a fish net. When the pelican sees fish it lowers the beak and swims over them. The pouch fills up with fish and water, when the pelican closes its mouth the water drains out. The pelican will continue scooping up the fish until its pouch is bulging. The pelican partially digests its food and then puts it back in the pouch for the young to eat. The pouch is convenient like a bowl. The pouch can stretch to fit 30 pounds of fish.
