Sometimes it appears that cats eyes are glowing but are they really? They actually are reflecting light and aren’t truly glowing. Cats eyes are the same as peoples eyes, the pupils grow when they need to let more light in to see in the dark. But cats eyes have a reflective layer in their eyes which allows them to shine. The eye layer is called the tapetum and can be pink, gold, blue or green. The outside light effects what color the eyes reflect. The ability to reflect light allows the cat to see 7 times better in the dark than people. Most cats have orange, yellow, green or blue irises and can also have 2 different color eyes.
