It may sound ironic but rain actually keeps the earth dry or less humid.

The process of collecting moisture for rain concentrates into clouds which later produces rain.

If this process never took place the earths humidity level would be too extreme and unbearable. Life as we know it today probably would cease to exist because of the massive amounts of humidity.
